I am very judicious in using my sub 3 star reviews and while Okoboji grill didn't do anything really wrong, it could be so much more. In a food wasteland on the south side of DSM, this is one of the few sit down restaurant options. The menu tries very hard (and it is a large menu) but nothing really connects. The restaurant has a faint odor of old beer, or some other spirits, and feels like it could use a nice once over with some serious cleaner. For the meal itself, I had a 'Boji "creation", some hybrid turkey sandwich. It sounded a lot better when I read the menu than what came out. Seasonings never really matched the definition. The fries were also advertised as can't miss but ended up just being every other seasoned fries I could get anywhere. If you are considering eating here, take the extra 10 minutes and drive in another direction and spend your money elsewhere.

Food is OK and the staff is very attentive. Not bad for a quick bite to eat with friends or family. Nice casual atmosphere where you can watch a game on the many TVs if your conversation goes dry.

It's an O.K place to eat. The atmosphere is pleasant enough. I like the seperation of the dining area and bar area. The food is good.I enjoy the boji blue burger. There is an interesting mix of professional servers and staff and a bunch of pretty, young air heads. We were seated near the enterance and all we could here was gossip this and that extremely loudly. Two of the female staff were then pretend wrestling inside the dining room which was very odd and distracting. Because of this I will not take my family back here.

I don't normally eat at chain restaurants, but my friend had a groupon. The food is meh, you know, bar food. The menu is really big, slightly overwhelming. I had a salad, which was fine. Nothing to write home about. I will say, the service was really good. Our server, Kathy, was very attentive, a delight. I would maybe recommend this place if you were out for watching a game. That would be a good fit.

Meh, the food is pretty good, but it is run by a bunch of tards. Yes I said tards. We had a large party, and they said there were no tables, but we could plainly see a large circular table, clean open, and people dining around it. We asked for that table, and sat down. The assistant tard handler in chief comes out and shames us for this "stunt". We just wanted to sit down, we had waited for 5 mins for a waitress to come to the front counter, and it wasn't that busy. boo Okobji Grill. I recommend a burger, maybe the buffalo chicken sandwich, get "boji" fries (think arby's curly fries in a waffle format) with ranch.

Okoboji can be a fun place to eat and hang out to watch a game. The most recent time I was there, the service was wonderful (in the bar - NOT the restaurant), the food was good (try the Boji Bacon Cheese fries), and the bar had good angles in which to see the tv for Sunday Night Football. Overall, I was disappointed with the actual restaurant and had no fun trying to locate an employee to seat us, as there was no one at the host station. Aside from that, not a bad experience. My recommendation; take it to go...

It's your average eatery, nothing too bad or exceptionally good. Service is better than average. What I just found out is they no longer carry Guinness beer so I might not visit again for awhile.
